At worst, the whole ploy is a direct attack on the Christian/Catholic faith.
No matter the motivation, the fact that the vast majority of professing Catholics remain woefully uncatechized, dabbling in flights of fancy like the Da Vinci Code will cause harm to what little faith they possess.
Discussion has ensued in the "Arts" forum, but I think we should brace for, and take seriously, this bogus story as a theological attack, courtesy of pop culture's main conduit - the major motion picture.
