Quote:
V. Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Benedicto.
R. Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum eius. [Ps 40:3]
Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.
Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector, famulum tuum Benedictum, quem pastorem Ecclesiae tuae praeesse voluisti, propitius respice: da ei, quaesumus, verbo et exemplo, quibus praeest, proficere: ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi credito, perveniat sempiternam. Per Christum, Dominum nostrum. Amen.
In English, it translates thus:
Quote:
V. Let us pray for Benedict, our Pope.
R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. [Ps 40:3]
Our Father ...
Hail Mary ...
O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant Benedict, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
I was not sure where to post this, but I trust that Christopher will know where to place it, if it belongs somewhere else.
I have been away for quite a while, but I miss you all. I think of all of you whenever I watch the Wednesday Audience, and especially when I was watching the Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
I hope we can all join the voices of our hearts in this beautiful old Latin prayer for our beloved Il Papa. The events of the past few days are proof that we live in very challenging times, and I know you are all with me in praying for Il Papa's safety and protection. In a world that oftentimes lives in the shadows of sadness and despair, Il Papa, with his message of truth, faith, peace and brotherhood, is the shining light of God's hope, mercy and timeless love. Let us all pray for his well-being, his health and his safety.
"Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved ..." - Benedict XVI
"He knocks at the door, he is close to us and thus true joy is close, which is stronger than all the sorrows in the world, and in our life." - Benedict XVI
