Posts: 789 06/28/05 02:13:51	Tags : None hi friends! we all love and admire Papa B! i know that hes known as a stern doctrinal enforcer, a man of great wisdom and deep spirituality BUT in my heart hes so humble and lovable so lets enumerate some interesting tidbits about him..some mundane things ,his likes and maybe dislikes that we know of.. im gonna start.. you can also post pics here if you like. - he LOVES cats!! (like meh)

Posts: 770 06/28/05 14:57:49	He dearly loved his parents and older sister who have all died, and is very attached to his brother as well as friends of long-standing who he carefully keeps up with. And he appears to have such genuine affection for his close staff - both household (Msgr. Gaenswein and Sister Ingrid and a few others) and office staff (they all as a group - including Papa - were said to have cried when he met them again for the first time after being elected) and especially loves any small child or baby he can get his hands on and kiss! Now that's a staff - who cry with joy when the boss returns for a visit after having been "promoted"! That says a lot about Papa - Cardinal Sodano was said to have been dumbfounded and very moved, to observe this reaction of Papa's staff!

Posts: 789 06/28/05 18:00:00	great info and anecdotes about PaPA! - he used to just walk or take a bus to and from his office at the Vatican! a priest here in Manila who was then studying in Rome said in an interview that he had been on a busride with then Cardinal Ratzinger, then he was intimidated cuz he knows him and said oh my hes already wearing red that time and so he offered him his seat on the bus and Papa smiled and said Grazie and was so humble- the priest said.

I got to listen to the pope give his blessing, and especially his greeting in English was so sweet!!! This week he greets "all of ze English speaking pilgrims preezent today in ze square" And the way he joyfully says "Grazie...bona domenica (sp?)....arrivaderci!!!" is adorable!!!

Posts: 770 06/29/05 16:30:28	I loved listening to him talk today too from the window- you're right ladihosen - his English is lovely. Papa B has a charming way of delivering greetings in many languages- in a voice that, that even if you couldnt see him, you'd know he was smiling!
