It was just announced on Bavarian State Radio: He's coming to Regensburg in Sept. or October of 2006!! The police are already planning, the city is turning a few farmfields into a huge meadow, because he's expected to hold holy mass for approx. 200.000 people.
He will stay at the Residence of Gloria von Thurn und Taxis who he's been friends with.
Gosh!!!! I can't believe it!!!

That is super great for next year....But why would he not be staying at his own house in Pentling, or with his brother Georg?

I guess, the police are not happy with the security in Pentling. Glorias Residence is quite large and already well protected.

I can't imagine whats going on down there....

Perhaps we should re-arrange the Bavaria trip!!!!

I suppose the security would be better at this lady's house - he's an old friend, I think. There's an account somewhere on the internet of Papa inviting her to dinner in Rome - I remember it was all in Italian. Also, one of our photos shows her son when he was confirmed by Joseph........
So, our Papa moves in noble circles. I expect this lady is a lot more refined than similar English "nobility" - I wouldn't go out of my front door to see them[Camilla etc.!]
So - Regensburg here we come!

Wow, I would be interested in going to Regensburg etc...Mary,
but I still think we should make it to Rome and try to get an Audience with Papa in the Vatican .

I heard Papa is going to Valencia , Spain in July al well. He is going to have a busy summer.

Wow ! I would be interested in going to Regensburg for sure Mary. I still think we should make it to Rome and have an Audience with Papa at The Vatican.

I also heard Papa will be in Valencia, Spain in July ,2006. He is going to be pretty busy.

Can you imagine all Papa's entourage packed into the little house in Pentling? What would kitty Chico think

? I am glad they will take all needed security arrangements. I bet Papa will visit his house though - what a strange feeling it will be for him to think that "the last time I was here, I was a Cardinal planning to retire..." Go Papa B!

So, his plans for future trips outside of Italy (after the World Youth celebrations) are finally beginning to take shape. I was wondering when he was going to really start to travel around, though not expected as much as JPII of course. That's great news for all you Regensburg-ers.

Any chance of him coming to the U.S. (I know, it's still early...) :lol

Regensburg is only a three hour ride from where i live!!
My Goodness. I'm really thrilled. I honestly didn't think he would make it "home" so soon. Considering his schedule.

The police are having a nervous breakdown, already. They can not take any vacation time all summer, due to the world cup. Now, they've got this "Pope Event" to cover....

I hope the global situation will have calmed down by then. This current threat/paranoia is bugging me!

I just finished viewing an earlier homecoming of Papa's (THE ONE IN MARCH OF 1999):

This most precious of DVDs from "All-Around-TV" in Deutschland.
It has a short prelude, in Baroque style, where they show the birthplace, then the childhood village where Papa grew up.
Then we come to a great Festival. The Regenburger Domspatzen is there with their new Kapellmeister, Roland B. There is a great procession of all the Bayern Staaten; and Mass begins with the Marianische Maerkongregation Allttingg of 400 Years!
This DVD contains the complete [Integrale] Mass of 14 March 1999 at the Altllinger St. Anne Basilica in Bayern, in the most clear vivid color and digital sound. It was as if I attended Mass along with them. The engineering was the most excellent.
It also showed the reception after the Mass in the Alng Town Hall. Papa made a wonderful speech on the working of Christ in our lives.... And his speech revealed something else too: In 1934, when Papa was not yet seven, he sang as "alto" in the Church there!
Truly the best 72+ minutes I have spent in a long time.
This is a Mass I will repeat over and over again in my own home!!! Just beautiful...Die Schenheit!

That would be so nice to see and listen to him. Wow that is such a good info. And Regensburg is a bit nearer for me than Rome. Well this a good chance to visit bavaria for the first time. I have been to Nrnberg, but I guess u cannot really compare that as it is Frankenland

This Morning at Mass I slipped !!!
(as Com/Lector) I normally lead the "Agnes Dei".
I started "Lamm Gottes, du nimmst hinweg die Snden der Welt" before I realized I WAS NOT THINKING IN ENGLISH" !
Boy was I embarased!!!!!
Quickly on the next repetition I changed back to English; but the damage was already done....
Hope people do not start thinking that I went-off onto the DEEP-END....

And Please look into this DVD I am raving about. The whole Mass is indeed there...For those who are investigating, or are novices, or are candidates; and cannot partake of the Eucharist as of yet, this would indeed give you, in German, the feel of attending Mass for real....And what a training DVD indeed with Papa saying and leading the Mass in his homeland !

P.S. I did notice a little different way Bavarians speak Deutsch...

For the Intercessions, When we respond, "Christ, hear us !"
"Christus, enhret uns" sounded like "Chreestoos-hear-e-unsss" a little peculiar indeed!

Well thanks for that DVD tipp. Let's se if I can buy that here somewhere. Well I am attending Holy Mass for nearly a year now. It makes me more confused I think cause I can't image to actually convert although I appreciate many things that are going on in the Catholic Church (well but u know my problems with your faith also, ah well, I'll find my way

)

I'm definitely going to Regensburg - even if Papa is staying with this Gloria countess. I know he's sort of a friend of hers, but I still feel he would prefer to stay in a monastery, like he's going to in Koln. I think he'd feel happier. Pity they can't all fit into the house in Pentling, but there you go...... I expect he'll go there and see Chico and his old neighbours.

Hey - someone mentioned about an audience in Rome. Well, you can get free tickets for the Wednesday general audience and then hope that you can stand somewhere near where Papa walks past. But as for a private audience.......I don't think that's likely. I was praying like mad, asking Our Lady, about this, but I don't think it will be possible. You have to have a good reason. Remember the parents of Terry Schavo? They went to Rome not long ago and saw Papa at the general audience - they were in the front row - but they didn't get a private audience with him and, in a way, they should have done, if anyone deserved it.
But.......I'm not the sort of person to give up or be downcast!
I'll give this a lot of thought. In fact, I'm going to ask our parish priest to see if he can speak to our bishop. It's worth a try..........."She who dares, wins" is my motto!
Oh - Galantarie - we want that DVD !!!!!!! Please tell us how we can order it. Amazon.de???????? I am currently waiting for that other one from there.

Papa has been invited to San Antonio, Texas for 2006 by Archbishop Msgr. Gomez....

Thanks Galanterie! I will investigate this DVD. I received the lovely Seewald book from Germany today - what lovely pictures! I will have to scan and have translated the sections ( I can make out a little but not actually read it well) - they all look fascinating. I am happy that he included one on Ingrid, and looks like several on Papa's growing up years.

In the mid of the 80's, I have often seen Gloria and her "husband", Johannes Prinz von Thurn und Taxis (in Great Britain, his nobility title would be "duke") in various nightclubs at Munich. Gloria was always accompanied by a bunch of young, greedy "devotees", and he by a horde of young homosexual guys. When the two "spouses" passed in close distance to each other, they didn't even notice each other. I'm sure they hated each other.

According to an employee of the Thurn und Taxis family, the two had a marriage contract telling that all children born by Gloria and produced by any male would automatically be considered Johannes' legitimate child and thus an heir of the princely family that was among the richest ones in Germany until a few decades ago. (Due to mismanagement by Johannes and Gloria, the family has lost a few thousand millions of Euros.)

By the way, it might be of interest to the British among you that the Thurn und Taxis palace at Regensburg is considerably bigger than Buckingham Palace in London. Papa B's house in Pentling would be much easier to monitor and protect than this palace with many hundreds of rooms, stairways, corners, alcoves, etc.

I hope that Papa B will return safe from Regensburg.
