Posts: 770 Jul 28 05 4:03 PM	I'm not sure - two words or one? I will be sad there is no more LesCombs pix an news until next summer. Papa looked so happy and relaxed - and it was lovely there! Makes me want to go and visit there anyway. I read that the Castel G gardens are lovely and peaceful - Papa will surely have a relaxing time there too. And the little balcomy for the angelus is so charming - right out onto the town square!

The town is the site of a papal residence, Castel Gandolfo, a palace constructed in the 17th century, and of the Church of Saint Thomas of Villanova. The Vatican observatory also is here. Posts: 770 Aug 1 05 2:56 PM	I read today that Papa B's brother Georg (now dubbed "Big Georg" to differentiate him from Don Giorgio ) will indeed visit Papa at Castel Gandalfo, and may already be there now! Not sure why he didnt visit LesCombs, unless Papa had to finish the book and speeches and stuff during his one stretch of real quiet time, and didn't want to leave Big Georg too much alone and be unsociable. I bet they have lots to talk about! I listened today to my new CD of the Regensburg Domspatzen with Big Georg conducting - selections such as requiems and mass pieces by a composer I am not familiar with - von Dittersdorf - but it was so lovely. The sound of that choir is really full and sweet - I was just totally absorbed. Got to order some more of these!

I do hope Big Georg is now on holiday with him - they do enjoy each other's company and I really can't think why Georg didn't go to Les Combes. Papa travelled by helicopter to today's General Audience. Thank goodness I didn't find out until he was well and truly back in Castel Gandolfo! I hate those helicopters. The audience was indoors today. I actually saw it on EWTN - first time I've seen it on the big screen!!!!! Why wasn't it in the square? Does anyone know? Papa had such a resounding reception from everyone today! He's so popular - isn't it wunderbar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of young people were there, possibly they'll be going on to Koln. Posts: 770 Aug 3 05 2:31 PM	I read there was a suden rainstorm which changed the location - plus the PaulVI Hall is airconditioned! Somewhere on the picture thread there is a picture of the papal helicopter - ladihosen said it looked like it had a black clown nose! It is a huge sturdy Italian military craft - looks pretty secure but you're right - we have to worry a bit!

Posts: 770 Aug 7 05 6:31 AM	Thanks for the picture of Castel G Sylvie! I have been wondering what the setup was there. I'd like to know some history of the place. Looks really beautiful I guess the little "yellow" town square we see folks gather in for the angelus in is there in the top center? Looks like a hike to get up there! I also remember when Papa visited CG in May, he commented on the beautiful extensive gardens - I think I see lots of green space there. Plenty of space for Papa to walk and relax (and the Georg's too - Big and Little)!
