He looked particularly happy while he was shaking hands with the people in Marktl-am-Inn -- and everyone looked overjoyed to see him. I couldn't help but be a bit scared that someone would actually reach out and grab his hand! But it is wonderful to see him enveloped in affection everywhere he goes.
I also forgot to mention this, but one thing that I enjoyed during these past three days of Il Papa's visit is how church bells ring out wherever he goes -- and not just one bell, but dozens of them, as if to proclaim to one and all, "the Holy Father is here!". In Munich, it seemed as if every church bell in the city was pealing in joy at his arrival, and the wind seems to be playfully tugging at his cape and his cassock in every place he visits. The skies are an impossible shade of blue, and it seems that the whole of Bavaria -- if not the whole of Germany! -- is basking in radiance and happiness with Il Papa's visit.
And now, this absolutely endearing photo of Il Papa and two little cherubs, which I simply must share with all of you!
