To follow up what I was saying about dropping in to read on other forums.
It sounds like your experiences have been similar to mine.
I've long been wondering whether I was just being very English or very Old.
Altho' even we seem to be just as bad as everybody else, at times.
I, too, have had my courses on assertiveness.
Fortunately, I feel, my earlier & better courses were from my Mother.
I do understand all about strongly held and passionate beliefs.
I also know the wonderful intoxication of ideas particularly when you are struggling to understand the world, the universe and everything-
Or, as we used to say round my way - 'Let's talk about Art, Life, Literature and Margate.'
Ours was a smaller world than it is today.
I also understand about meeting and talking and living with people who hold equally strongely and passionately other beliefs. Some of which I don't understand, some of which repel me instantly and some of which I love.
But I just don't like being rude, unless I have to, which, being a Londoner, can be quite often.
My Mother always said that good manners cost nothing and I still believe her>
(I have visitors, I'm experimenting to see if I can 'post' this properly in a rare moment, if I get it wrong I shall try again.....and again)
To Everyone Else
Thankyou
I will write more when I can.
God Bless you all and Good Night
Joy p.s. (my real name why would I want to use any other?)
