i'm from the US. i just turned 25. i've been catholic all my life, but only passionate about it for the last 3-4yrs now. when i started school for my graduate degree (M.Ed. Mental Health Counseling), i went out with a girl who was Pentecostal. she began questioning her church which influenced me to question mine. i began a year of intense, non-stop, daily, hourly research into Catholicism. i read protestant articles attempting to refute catholicism. i would join protestant forums, get my rear-end handed to me, and then go and find the catholic response. i prayed to the Lord, asking him if i was where i needed to be and for him to send me the Holy Spirit to lead me towards what he wanted me to know and learn. eventually, i came out the other end a convinced and convicted Catholic young adult.
during that time of prayer and study i joined Phatmass.com ("p.h.a.t" stands for "Preaching Holy Apostolic Truth"). one day i was like, "hey, we should have an apologetics board where we can coordinate our efforts to defend the faith at protestant websites, and where we can ask questions about how to defend what we believe." well, lo and behold, the admin ("dUSt") not only created the new board, he made me the moderator of it! i was shocked and amazed, and knew not what compelled him to do such a thing. today, i consider that decision to be truly providential. inspred by biblicalcatholic.com, i began collecting articles that defend catholicism, which eventually grew into the Reference Section, which is now one of the largest libraries of articles in defense of Catholicism on the internet.
in appreciation for my efforts, dUSt made me the Apologetics Director of Phatmass. as a result, i felt like i should be "directing" more, so i launched the Phatmass Crusade (which dUSt renamed the "fuzzy bunny crusade" to soften the negative connotations that come w/ the word "crusade"
each group was assembled based on the strengths and weaknesses of the volunteers. each group has a group leader, who coordinates the strategy of the group and answers any questions his group members may have about a topic. each group also has a prayer leader that prays for the intentions of the group. finally, there are "floaters" that go from forum to forum and help out where ever they are needed.
w/ the election of the new pope and the increased traffic at this board, i was informed that christopher was looking for some moderators to hold down the fort over at his forum. the CRFC was suddenly in the position to be one of the most popular websites on the net, and i didn't think i could pass up the opportunity to be involved. so i told him i was interested and he accepted me.
so here i am
Pax Christi,
phatcatholic
