I recommend Ratzinger's Faith by Tracey Rowland (pub OUP) which is a very good study of PB's theology. She gives a very good historical summary of theology before and after Vatican II. She points out that liberals and traditionalists tend to see Vatican II as a decisive break whereas Pope Benedict and the Resourcement group emphasise the "Hermeneutic of Continuity." She shows how the Pope criticised the "dualistic" nature of some pre conciliar Thomism and how some of the themes of modernism are to asserted in the light of a Christocentric interpretation rather than in an accomodationist light.
I am interested if anyone else has found the book enlightening.
