I think we can welcome the Congregation of the Faith's clarification on the use of feminist language in the liturgy. It has said that baptism "in
the name of the Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier is not acceptable or valid. In contrast recent Church of England guidelines have advised bishops & priests
to avoid "uncritical use of masculine imagery." In the Ratzinger Report Pope Benedict said that feminist theology risks the creation of a new
religion. In the USA one Anglican liturgy refers to Christ as "our mother." Of course, God is beyond sex but the traditional forms do preserve our
relations with him in a personal way.
