Dear friends of Our Ladys glorious Arch of Triumph,
On this date, December 8, 1947, Our Blessed Mother Mary, represented by the Western Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, triumphantly entered America, through Buffalo, NY, The Queen City. Fatima seer Sr. Lucia, who herself had commissioned the statue, charged the late John Haffert, co-founder of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, with bringing it westward to spread Our Ladys message of conversion and prayer. Refused permission to bring the statue into America through New York City, he was warmly invited by Buffalos Bishop John OHara to bring it into Buffalo Diocese, through Ontario, Canada.
The official Web site of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue (www.pilgrimvirginstatue.com) reports:
It entered the United States, through Can ada at Buffalo, New York, on December 8, 1947. (December 8th being our patronal Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception.) At Buffalo 200,000 people lined the streets and welcomed Our Lady on that occasion.
It is also notable that 1947 was the 100th anniversary of the Holy Fathers approval, in 1847, of the American bishops decision to choose Mary Immaculate as the Patroness of the United States, and to make December 8th Americas patronal feast. On that day in 1947, Buffalo Bishop OHara crowned Mary with a golden crown in a splendid celebration in St. Josephs Cathedral, attended by thousands.
Many here in Buffalo remember that great occa sion, but it was unknown to us until it was revealed to our fellow director, Judge Dan Lynch of Vermont, who also is National Guardian of the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe (www.jkmi.com). In a Radio Maria interview with myself on May 13 last year, Judge Lynch recalled that, after becoming a director, he wondered why Mary would choose Buffalo for her triumphal arch.
So I prayed about it, and you know, a funny thing happens when you pray. You get answers. I picked up my dear friend John Hafferts book, To Shake the World, and read how Mary had chosen Buffalo for her glorious entry into the United States in 1947. That did it for me! Buffalo's hospitality is still there for Our Lad y. The City Council has approved the shrine project. Let's pray and help Our Lady to build her shrine and then Our Lady will make her own way."
It clearly behooves us, Marys children, to erect The Arch of Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the International Shrine of the Holy Innocentsto be the worlds tallest monument and most beautiful landmarkto show the world our love for this great Queen that we have received from the Holy Trinity, and to proclaim her glorious, coming Triumph. In so doing, we will help fulfill the desire of Jesus' Sacred Heart, by promoting devotion to His mother Mary's Immaculate Heart. Mary herself revealed at Fatima, Jesus wishes to establish in the world, devotion to my Immaculate Heart.
