In light of the fallout over the NCCSB's 'Reflections on Covenant and
Mission' (August 2002) I wanted to respond both to the radical traditionalist critics of the document (who have used it to their advantage by slandering the Church AND the Jewish people) as well as Cardinal Kasper (who agrees with the conclusions of the document and, I believe, misrepresents 'Dominus Iesus' as a basis for his own opinion that the Church should exempt the Jews from its missionary mandate).
I also wanted to address the need for a clarification on this issue from the Vatican, in light of conflicting messages laymen are receiving from Cardinal Kasper and the clergy.
In all of this I sincerely hope to have presented my thoughts, and especially my criticism of His Eminence, Cardinal Kasper, in a respectful manner.
