After her close encounter with the pontiff, many people asked Mr Hill if they could hold Claire, one of a number of babies blessed by the Pope."Since the baby's been blessed people have thought that somehow the blessing may pass on to them so everyone's been taking photos and asked if they can hold the baby."
Some of my friends actually asked if they could hold my hand, when I told them that I had gotten close enough to actually kiss Il Papa's hand! It is so
moving ... people have such incredible faith, and such love for the Holy Father.
Il Papa is now safely home in La Bella Roma, and getting some well-earned rest at Castel Gandolfo. There have not been many photos, as of yet, of his arrival at Ciampino Airport, most probably because of the lateness of the hour. His plane was scheduled to arrive at 11:00PM Rome time, and I'm guessing that after such a long flight, everyone decided that it would be best to whisk him off to the peace and quiet of Castel Gandolfo.
In any case, here are a couple of photos from his "chat" with journalists on the Qantas flight back to Italy:
Smiling and affable as ever ... I wonder what he's laughing about? Someone must have made a very witty remark!

And here, with Fr. Lombardi and Cardinal Bertone. I wonder what Il Papa is applauding about?

I am unable to access this video, but Yahoo has recently posted some raw video courtesy of the Associated Press of Il Papa's arrival in Rome: Benedict XVI returns to Rome
I am very glad Il Papa is now safely back in Italy -- and off to a well-deserved mini-vacation in Castel Gandolfo, and soon, in Bressanone with Msgr. Ratzinger.
