There is discussion of the possible beatification of John Henry Newman. there seem to be two alledged obtacles:
1. Lack of a healing miracle;
2.Newman's alledged lack of joy.
Fr chevas of the Birmingham Oratory & Fr Ian Ker have reminded us that N was very shy. In any case, it is heroic to overcome one's weaknesses and heroism is one mark of a saint.
On point 2, there all kinds of miracles. The requirement for a physical healing miracle is comporatively recent. The miracle of a turning round of soemone's life might count and I( suspect that Newman might win on this front. He might, for example, be considered as a Doctor of the church for his prefiguring of the Second Vatican council. As a patristic scholar he would appeal to those who approach Catholic theology from a ressourcement standpoint.
I hope some may pray & lobby for Newman's cause from these positions.
