Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, but I was wondering if anyone has an idea when Pope Benedict XVI is expected to perhaps grant the universal indult / guarantee for the Tridentine Mass that has been rumoured from many sources, including CWN:

Okay, I'll post this here, in the hope that someone with more trad knowledge than I have, will know the answer.

I need some advice. I go to a wonderful, traditional Parish in Salt Lake City. One of the laymen of the congregation has suddenly become an "MC"--he stands in the pulpit before mass, asks everyone to turn around and introduce themselves to those standing nearby and shake hands. I come to mass early to pray a rosary and do not want to engage in all of this. It is bad enough that we have to do all of that nonsense at the peace. Just before I make a complete fool of myself by spouting off on a topic on which my information is incomplete or inaccurate, I would like everyone's help.

In our Diocesan paper two weeks ago was the announcement of the opening of the Chapel of St. Benedict, property of the Society of St. Pius X. The Archdiocese noted simply that this group is not in communion with the Holy See and that attending Mass there will not fulfill the Sunday obligation.

In your sparse biography of Ratzinger you have missed out the fact that he was a member of the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany during WWII. Neither did Ratzinger resist the draft, choosing to work for the Nazi army rather than claim status as a Conscientious Objector (as Jehovah's Witnesses did in Ratzinger's home town). Ratzinger made no attempt to assist in the resistance in his hometown.
