Father Joseph Farrell KHS has sent Pope Benedict a recently released recording of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius sung in German. The Pope is a life-long admirer of Cardinal newman whose words Elgar set. Monsinor Gabriele Caccia has acknowledged the gift. I wonder if Pope Benedict has listened to it. Apart from rejoicing at his inpired appointment as Pope, some of his neighbours welcomed his elevation as he used to play the piano loudly at night!
